Fall is Apple Time in Oregon – Oregon is the 7th highest apple producing state in the country. Last year’s production was about 4.1 million bushels (multiply by 42 to get Pounds). Many varieties are grown in Oregon but the top producing varieties are Fiji, Gala, Honeycrisp and Granny Smith. Oregon’s neighbor to the north, Washington State, is the top producing state in the country.

Located in the shadow of Mount Hood Oregon’s tallest volcano, is the Fruit Loop a 35 mile road home to 100’s of farms, most of which grow fruit. While Oregon maybe the 7th largest producer of apples, pears and cherries are the two largest fruit crops in the state.
